Outreach Flyers
Questions
to Ask Yourself (and the recruiter) Before You Enlist
(from SNAFU)
This is the primary flyer we use, with questions (like: If the military
is such a great opportunity, why are there military members who
have to use foodstamps to feed their families?) they can ask recuriters,
especially during presentations.
Ten
Points to Consider Before You Sign a Military Enlistment Agreement
(from AFSC Youth & Militarism Project)
The flyer we use for the other side of Questions to Ask
Yourself . 1.Do not make a quick decision
by enlisting the first time you see a recruiter or when you are
upset; 2.Take a witness with you when
you speak with a recruiter; 3. Talk to
veterans; 4. Consider your moral feelings
about going to war; 5. Get a copy of the
enlistment agreement; 6. There is no “period
of adjustment” during which you may request and receive an
immediate honorable discharge; 7. Get
all your recruiter’s promises in writing; 8.
There are no job guarantees in the military; 9.
Military personnel may not exercise all of the civil liberties
enjoyed by civilians; 10. Many other opportunities
exist for you to serve your community and enhance your skills.
Military
Recruiters’ Myths The Pentagon Doesn’t Want You To Know
(from SNAFU) (2-page)
The other primary flyer we use. Debunks 5 main myths: 1. The
military provides valuable job training; 2. You'll get
$50,000 for a College Education; 3. The military takes
care of its own with excellent retirement and disability benefits;
4. There is no way out of the Delayed Entry Program; 5.
Leaving the DEP can get you arrested or hurt your credit rating.
The
Myths of Military Opportunity
(from the Central Committee for Conscientious Objectors (CCCO))
"The reason to have a mili tary is to be prepared to f

A
CENTURY OF U.S. MILITARY INTERVENTIONS
The following is a partial list of 130 U.S. military interventions
from 1890 to 1999
(I think it is crucial that anyone joining the military has a full
understanding of US foreign policy and interventions. This is a
good start!)
